Project Overview

System One is seeking a Project Controls Lead to manage project controls functions for the Colorado Power Pathway Project. This role involves planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and reporting to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in large capital infrastructure projects, with expertise in project controls methodologies, including earned value management. They will lead and direct schedule management involving critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting, and document control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project controls functions, including planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and reporting
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project controls processes and systems
  • Lead and mentor a team of project controls professionals
  • Collaborate closely with project management, land acquisition & permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and other stakeholders
  • Implement industry best practices in project controls and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain the project baseline schedule using Primavera P6
  • Monitor project progress, identify variances, and implement corrective actions with the project team
  • Analyze schedule impacts and provide forecasts and recovery plans as necessary
  • Ensure accurate cost management, including detailed cost estimates and forecasts
  • Ensure accurate Earned Value Management system reporting
  • Implement cost control processes to monitor expenditures, commitments, and cash flow
  • Prepare cost variance analyses and recommend actions to mitigate overruns
  • Identify Project Controls improvement opportunities and contribute to the project risk management processes
  • Collaborate on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of management reporting systems
  • Prepare project reports, including status updates, dashboards, and executive summaries
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication of project performance to stakeholders

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in large capital infrastructure projects
  • Expertise in project controls methodologies, including earned value management
  • Leadership experience in project controls or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 and other project management tools

Location and Compensation

This is a 12-month contract position located in Denver, CO, with an estimated salary range of $90-$93 per hour.
