About the Role: The Interviewer Experience Program Manager will lead initiatives focused on enhancing the recruiting experience for hiring teams and candidates.


This role is responsible for designing and executing interviewer training programs and driving engagement through initiatives such as our referral and cross-functional interview programs.


The Program Manager will report to the Head of Candidate Experience and collaborate across teams, including Recruiting, Operations, Learning & Development, and DEI/Community, to ensure these programs are thoughtfully designed and aligned to achieve Gusto's goals cohesively.

With a focus on continuous improvement, this role plays a critical part in driving interviewing excellence and fostering an inclusive hiring culture at Gusto.


About the Team: The Candidate Experience team is dedicated to ensuring a seamless and memorable experience throughout the candidate journey. This team oversees scheduling workflows and enhancements to the candidate experience through process, tools and systems. By driving strategic initiatives and managing operational metrics, the team plays a vital role in meeting organizational hiring goals. The Candidate Experience team works to create a positive, hormonious experience for candidates, recruiters, and hiring teams.




Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve interviewer training programs, ensuring that all interviewers are equipped with the skills and tools needed to conduct effective, equitable, and compliant interviews.
  • Optimize programs such as our referral program and our values-based cross-functional interview program, with targeted improvements to drive adherence and support high-priority roles.
  • Develop programs and events that promote hiring team engagement, recognition, and continuous improvement in recruiting practices.
  • Develop and maintain a library of recruiting resources, including interviewer resource guides and toolkit to support interviewers in understanding best practices, the candidate experience, and Gusto’s hiring values.
  • Optimize candidate NPS and hiring team experience surveys, analyze insights, and drive improvements in recruitment and interviewer support based on feedback.
  • Track and analyze program performance metrics, using data to continuously improve the effectiveness and impact of recruiting experience programs.




Here’s what we're looking for:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience required; 4+ years of experience in program management, recruiting operations, or a related field, with a focus on enhancing the recruiting experience.
  • A deep understanding of recruiting best practices, particularly around interviewer training, candidate experience, and diversity and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with recruiting systems (e.g., Greenhouse, Workday) and data-driven decision-making in recruiting.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in recruiting programs.
