Medical Assistant Job Description

Ultimate Staffing is seeking a Medical Assistant that delivers compassionate and exemplary service to patients and providers. Each Medical Assistant is paired with a specific physician or physician assistant for one-on-one collaboration. Teamwork is an essential aspect of this role.

Payrate range $22.00-$25.00

Must be able to travel to multiple offices in Hartford County



Primary Responsibilities

  • Preparation: Arrive 30 minutes before the first patient appointment to prepare rooms by stocking instruments, supplies, and ensuring equipment is powered and ready.
  • Rooming Patients: Escort patients to exam rooms, gather medical history, confirm the purpose of the visit, and verify personal information. Ensure all relevant test results are in the patient's record.
  • Procedure Assistance: Prepare and assist providers with office procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Patient Care: Collaborate closely with providers to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Patient Flow: Work with the Medical Assistant team to maintain efficient patient flow, including cleaning exam rooms and autoclaving instruments as needed.
  • Administrative Support: Refer to daily assignments to ensure appropriate coverage and assist with front desk and scheduling teams to gather all required patient records, including test results.
  • Insurance and Authorizations: Manage prior insurance authorizations and scheduling for radiological procedures.
  • Prescriptions: Handle prescription refills and prior authorizations under provider direction.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Schedule diagnostic tests and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain stock levels, place supply orders, and track inventory for proper allocation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment is in good working condition, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance and testing per protocol.
  • Exam Room Maintenance: Clean and restock all exam rooms.
  • Patient Communication: Triage patient calls and respond according to protocol.
  • Order Reconciliation: Review and reconcile orders weekly (e.g., pathology, radiology, and lab tests).
  • Travel Support: Accompany the assigned provider to off-site locations as needed.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as required.

Position Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree is an advantage.
  • Certification: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) is required.
  • Experience: At least one year of medical office experience is required.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in medical procedures, including infection control protocols.
    • Strong customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
    • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Familiarity with electronic health records, especially Epic, and medical documentation.
    • Competence in medical terminology.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
