Fixed Income Operations Mid-Level Specialist


San Diego based asset management firm seeks an Operations Analyst to provide assistance for trade processing, settlement, month end portfolio reconciliation and client reporting of portfolio characteristics, holdings and performance. He or she will work closely with portfolio managers and fixed income traders to maintain accurate trade operations and accounting for all portfolios. In addition, they may be called upon for ad hoc projects or additional reporting needs from the client service or research team. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.


Expectations:


Trade Processing / Settlement

  • Process trades between Bloomberg AIM, Schwab Portfolio Center, and ensure transmission through DTCC platforms
  • Monitor and identify trade discrepancies and resolve the issues with brokers and custodian banks
  • Generate end of day reports, price and holdings files for clients, Portfolio Managers, research department.
  • Ensure all activity is properly recorded and documented


Account Maintenance & Reconciliation

  • Setup and update fixed income securities, index data, and account maintenance within accounting system
  • Review daily cash and position reconciliations in Schwab Portfolio Center and resolve discrepancies with the appropriate parties
  • Maintain data integrity of portfolio management system
  • Compile month end holdings, pricing, and performance processes


Reporting

  • Generate portfolio performance reports
  • Create & maintain ad hoc client reports
  • Generate reports and provide data/information for Portfolio Managers, Traders, Business Development and Client Service
  • Provide day-to-day operations support for the Trading Desk and Portfolio Managers


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in relevant field of study
  • Entry to mid-level experience with trade operations and settlement
  • Experience with fixed income and/or accounting experience is strongly preferred
  • Must be a U.S citizen or authorized to work in the U.S on a permanent basis
  • Strong communication skills, proactive, effective problem-solving skills



SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to work in a fast moving, open trading floor environment with exciting operational situations that can arise when markets are busy and time is critical to complete tasks
  • Must be highly organized, have strong attention to detail and the ability to meet established deadlines
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability and willingness to learn in house applications/new technologies
  • Experience with Schwab Portfolio Center and Bloomberg AIM systems preferred
  • Knowledge of Corporate Actions
