Our Space client in San Diego are looking for an EEE Senior Parts Component engineer to be hands on and provide technical leadership in parts selection process, parts management process, parts creation and quality control.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the advancement of cutting-edge space projects, encompassing all stages from proposal writing, through design, to production support.
- Develop component specifications, select appropriate parts, and manage obsolescence in close collaboration with design engineers, supply chain professionals, and quality and reliability engineers.
- Collaborate with various engineering teams (Project, Design, Manufacturing, etc.) to ensure designs meet quality and requirement standards.
- Promote parts standardization by advocating for the reuse of components from the database where suitable, and work with component manufacturers and distributors to understand their product roadmaps.
- Oversee the ECAD library, including the maintenance and introduction of new parts.
- Analyze Product Change Notices (PCNs) and Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts to assess their impact on components in use, and inform relevant teams of any concerns.
- Manage data and part number systems efficiently.
Experience Required:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proficient in tools and strategies for managing component obsolescence.
- Skilled in end-of-life management, including handling commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and counterfeit components.
- Familiar with the qualification and screening protocols for electronic, electrical, and electromechanical (EEE) parts.
- Well-versed in JEDEC, EIA, IPC standards, as well as relevant military, NASA (EEE-INST-002), and ESA standards.
- Knowledgeable about Quality Assurance and practices related to the Electronic Component Management Plan (ECMP).
- Understanding of space design requirements, processes, and their practical applications.
- Experienced with PCB CAD designs catering to various assurance levels and vendor capabilities.
- Competent in high-density interconnect technologies such as micro vias, fuzz/micro buttons, BGA packaging, and high-frequency electronics including RF microwave, MMIC, and high-speed digital designs.
