YOUR Why
The Chief Operating Officer leads our client's day-to-day operations. While this role will have direct oversight for the operational and financial success of each of the individual programs, the biggest responsibility of the COO is to the company’s employees. You will have direct oversight of the Program Director team, and will be deeply involved in their growth and development as leaders, as well as work closely with their staff to ensure the right people are in the right roles to promote our client’s success. Along with the CEO, you will advance the vision to make the company the provider of choice for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by ensuring that our client is an employer of choice.
You will establish the direction and strategy for our client in collaboration with the CEO while assuring optimal safety, quality, service, and outcomes. This position is ultimately responsible for ensuring that quality and comprehensive service is being delivered efficiently on all levels, which is accomplished through effective leadership.
How YOU Will Spend YOUR Days
- Lead the execution of our client's vision of being the premier provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Oversee, direct, and mentor the staff, developing an open, transparent, communicative culture of collaboration and engagement.
- Create an inclusive environment and behave in a way that ensures that clients and employees feel embraced and included, regardless of individual characteristics, respected and valued, engaged and connected to the community, and safe from abuse and harassment.
- Develop and monitor program performance and quality indicators, communicate successes, and, together with Program Directors, create and implement program improvements when needed.
- Ensure provider adherence to clinical, Federal, and State requirements, in addition to ensuring accreditation standards, as applicable.
- Review and interpret data (i.e. demographics, numbers of clients served and services provided, client satisfaction, client progress, process improvement metrics, etc.) to support and inform grant activities, fundraising, program improvement, and other activities that support quality services for individuals.
- Track expectations for productivity and revenue at the program level while balancing the value of providing quality services and maintaining sustainable workloads for employees.
- Responsible for ensuring program employees adhere to requirements specified by law and/or governing bodies.
What YOU Bring
- 7+ years of experience in senior leadership, as a COO or equivalent.
- Mix of private industry and non-profit experience is ideal.
- People-focused leadership style - past experience developing leaders and building a positive, inclusive, engaged culture.
- Strong sense of ethics.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and initiatives.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred, not required.
