Role Overview:

The Staff Technical Program Manager in Thermal Engineering will play a pivotal role in driving the thermal management strategies for server and storage platforms. This individual will lead the process from concept through production, ensuring the integration of efficient thermal cooling solutions across the product lifecycle. Our client places a strong emphasis on hands-on experience with thermal design specifically for servers and storage platforms, underscoring the importance of specialized knowledge in this area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of thermal solutions, ensuring deliverables meet timeline and quality benchmarks.
  • Facilitate collaboration across hardware, firmware, and thermal teams to address thermal challenges, ensuring seamless integration of fan speed control with overall system design.
  • Conduct and manage meetings with component vendors and CPU partners to stay ahead of technological advancements and integration possibilities.
  • Oversee thermal testing processes, including lab management and third-party coordination, to ensure comprehensive validation and performance benchmarking.
  • Act as a point of contact for customer interactions related to thermal solutions, providing insights and demonstrations as needed.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Direct experience in thermal design for servers and storage platforms is essential. Candidates with experience in other domains will not be considered.
  • Profound knowledge of thermal management hardware and software, including thermal chambers, thermocouples, data loggers, and CFD software like FloTherm.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop thermal fan speed control algorithms and conduct performance benchmarking.
  • Leadership or project management experience within thermal engineering, indicating the capability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with various stakeholders and external partners.

Preferred Background:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a Master’s degree being advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of dedicated experience in thermal design for server and storage platforms, and a proven track record of leadership in this field.
