The Sr. Capital Project Procurement Specialist has an important role in the Procurement Organization with the responsibility for the sourcing and safety compliance of construction services, capital equipment, and manufacturing plant capital equipment services while reducing cost and to meet organizations goals and objectives for the client.

This person will be responsible for managing and communicating the requirements of the project transaction(s) to the contractor and vendor base with clear and concise scopes of work, specifications, project timelines needed and performance expectations. This will include managing and executing three bids and a buy events, negotiating potential modifications to legal terms and conditions, assisting with creating final contract documents and executing documents for the projects.

In collaboration with other Project Procurement Team Members, the team will oversee the negotiation and sourcing of small and major equipment and services, creating contract packages or purchase order packages and issuing Purchase Orders for the Capital Projects team.

Per Enviva Procurement Guidelines, the Project Procurement Specialist will reduce cost, limit corporate liability and contribute to successfully meeting projects timelines on time and under budget. The successful candidate for this position has experience with Construction Projects and a understanding of compiling scopes of work, contract documents, Contract Negotiations, complex supply chains and Purchasing concepts.

Pay Range: $35hr-$48hr

Location: Raleigh, NC

Duration: 6 month contract to hire

Schedule: Hybrid schedule with 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with Capital Project team that could include any/all: District Project Manager, District Engineers, Plant Managers, Plant Engineers and Maintenance Manager on Scope, Strategy, Schedule and Support for Capital Construction Projects and Plant Shutdowns.
  • Support the training of plant project managers and engineers on the capital procurement processes as required and collaborate and coordinate relationships with key leaders within the plant on the importance of Scope, Strategy and Schedule
  • Validate requests for materials and services to ensure specifications for equipment, materials and services are adequate and complete
  • Prepares RFIs, RFQs, Source equipment and services based on specifications provided by Project Mangers/Engineers, in a manner that achieves the best economic outcome while meeting the time requirements provided by the requestor
  • Convert requests to requisitions and issue POs to vendors, Manages Opens POs, Change Orders, Acknowledgments and Lien Waivers.
  • Responsible for implementing Category Strategies supplied by Category Managers
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive understanding/knowledge of plant operations and requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all approved policies, strategies, and programs of the company, its parent company, or in projects for timely achievement of all activities
  • Manage relationships with key contractors and suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance with the organization's terms and conditions.
  • Focus on consolidating vendors by developing synergies with other sites within the organization to achieve optimum cost savings.
  • Support and implement Procurement leadership cost saving initiatives, measuring RFP variance, on time and under budget.
  • Measure and hold strategic partners accountable for bids, performance as measured in supplier scorecards.
  • Coordinate with accounting to ensure pricing/invoicing accuracy, supports invoice resolutions to avoid supplier credit holds.
  • Effectively communicate potential supply disruptions throughout the organization, as first escalation contact communicates and starts escalations with the supply base.
  • Promote safety initiatives and enforce the organization's safety policies.
  • Be a leader on the weekly Procurement Call with support for the enterprise and Procurement objectives of driving savings, leveraging consistency, promoting Safety and adhering to Compliance for the Procurement and Capital departments.
  • Work as one team with Plant Procurement Specialists to support the Capital Projects and Plant Operations.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or Supply Chain with emphasis on compiling Scopes of Work for services.
  • Demonstrated Procurement experience and coordination and collaboration outside the Procurement team (especially with maintenance, production, accounting and receiving teams.
  • Must have construction experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years procurement plus undergraduate degree or 8 years procurement experience. A combination of education and experience will be taken into consideration.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite of Word, Excel, etc.
  • Proven negotiation skills and strategies supported by specific accomplishment.
  • Proven vendor relationship management skills.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Working conditions

  • Hybrid role with occasional in office meetings in Raleigh NC.
  • Occasional travel to plant job sites
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

Physical requirements

  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards

Travel requirements

  • Occasional limited travel may be required
