Position summary:

Our client is currently seeking a full-time Highway Operation Superintendent for a highway operations and maintenance project in the Denver, Colorado area. The Highway Operation Superintendent will be responsible for the profitability and reputation of the project with a focus on client relations, staff performance, and financial performance This position requires knowledge of P3 project processes, maintenance or construction work program and budgeting, and highway maintenance and construction activities. The Highway Operation Superintendent must have the ability to manage a staff of 14 engineers and maintenance technicians; assign and oversee maintenance and operations work tasks on a daily and weekly basis; and work with and effectively communicate with other project team members such as the construction contractor and the owner. He/she must have proven ability to develop and implement a planned and systematic approach to time management, project management, and problem solving.


Responsibilities:


  • Work with the Regional Manager in the project planning and budgeting process.
  • Overall responsible for the effective and efficient execution of the maintenance and operational functions of the project
  • Building, training, and developing the in-house technical work force staff.
  • Daily client and owner communication including attendance and presentations at coordination and review meetings.
  • Subcontractor procurement and oversite
  • Be responsible for building the reputation of Jorgensen in the local marketplace as a leader in the maintenance field.


Required Experience:

  • Roadway/bridge construction or maintenance experience
  • Project management or supervisory experience dealing with highway construction or maintenance
  • Experience with database management systems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Skilled in establishing priorities and managing time dependent heavy workloads
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to develop and present various types of technical and operational information within a meetings context

Additional Preferred Experience:

Experience with projects using Colorado DOT standard specifications.

Management systems knowledge such as PMS, MIS, a-connect, and GIS.

Experience with Microsoft office products

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma with additional courses focused on highway construction or maintenance plus 5-7 years’ experience in highway maintenance at Supervisory Level or above.
  • Preferred Qualifications: BS in Civil, Mechanical, or other engineering discipline with minimum of 10 years’ experience in highway maintenance in public or private sector. Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e., criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing)
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate a message in a clear and precise way
  • Ability to manage conflict resolution in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other agency safety standards and practices as applied to highway maintenance operations and work activities.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment capabilities and use as applied to highway maintenance or construction activities.

Work Schedule:

Full time (40 hour per week on salaried basis). Must be willing to work flexible schedules to meet project production requirementsand travel for company meetings and training.
