Paralegal/Administrative Specialist

Ardelle Associates is seeking a Paralegal/Administrative Specialist to support the United States Attorney's Office in Portland, ME. Candidate will provide administrative and legal support to maintain the level of case work in the office.
DUTIES
- Provide Apprentice examination of legal instrument
- Review legal instruments (completeness of information, proper execution.
- Provides direct support to Litigation Support Unit, attorneys and paralegals regarding functional and administrative duties as needed
- Determine correctness of action (per Government regulations, procedures, etc).
- Research records (to ascertain conditions that might preclude action)
- Assists with various tasks within the Litigation Support Unit on a daily basis to include the processing of data and evidence for cases and the completion of discovery production.
- Assist with the preparation of trial and hearing presentations and demonstratives.
- Collects and compiles statistical data as necessary for various reports
- Provide assistance within the Administrative Division on project-based work as well as coverage of administrative duties during employee vacations
- The USAO will provide the Contractor with access to the government’s facility, office space, computer access, telephone, facsimile machines, copies, supplies, and other general office equipment necessary to perform the requested work.
- The Contractor will be provided access and passwords to various databases including, but not limited to, ECLIPSE, TRIAL DIRECTOR, CASEMAP, QUICKBOOKS, and MICROSOFT SUITE.
- The office has a significant trial caseload wherein the attorneys use electronic presentation software with the assistance of our legal support staff. A Paralegal/Administrative Specialist support individual would assist our office in performing many of these functions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Two-year undergraduate degree or equivalent
- 3-4 years of Paralegal experience
- Proficiency with numerous software and databases including, but not limited to, MICROSOFT SUITE.
- The contractor must possess essential qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, and an ability to work cooperatively with others.
**This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
Federal Background Investigation required
Candidates with active federal clearances may be given special consideration.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $28.93 - $33.34 per hour
