Anderson Studio of Architecture and Design, an award-winning Charleston-based firm, is looking for an organized and adaptable Business Manager to join our growing team. The Business Manager will be instrumental in improving the firm’s processes, overseeing operational, financial, and business data, and work closely with various departments to ensure efficient workflows and profitability. This role is pivotal in supporting our growth as we expand regionally and nationally. The position requires a strategic balance between immediate attention to detail and long-term planning. Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.


Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate operational processes to identify areas for improvement, develop and implement SOPs
  • Enhance internal processes to increase productivity and reduce costs while managing resource allocation, including staff scheduling, workload distribution, and outsourcing. Collaborate with team leaders to assess employee performance and provide recommendations for promotions or additional training.
  • Monitor project costs to ensure projects remain within budget and maintain profitability. Develop, track, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet financial objectives, including preparing annual budgets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, executive summaries, economic forecasts for individual projects, and weekly financial reports.
  • Generate and evaluate financial reports to identify trends, pinpoint improvement areas, and develop multi-year forecasts.
  • Collaborate with accounting to streamline billing, invoicing, and payment processes, complete invoicing tasks, and handle related documentation. Serve as a client point of contact, assisting with inquiries and supporting billing by managing data entry and following up on outstanding payments.
  • Maintain client satisfaction by overseeing relationships and addressing project challenges. Contribute to business development by preparing client proposals and contracts, organizing client meetings, developing innovative marketing strategies, and identifying opportunities for growth to advance strategic initiatives that promote the firm’s success.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial, legal, and operational risks, protecting the firm’s interests and long-term sustainability.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in business management, operations, or a similar role. Experience in the architecture, design, or construction industry an asset.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost management
  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities, including fostering internal and external relationships, influencing others, collaborating on problem-solving, and effectively partnering with key internal stakeholders
  • Effectively manages competing demands, demonstrating agility and adjusting methods or approaches to suit each situation
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides) for document creation, data analysis, and collaboration
