Senior Financial Analyst/Project Manager

Role Purpose
Reports to the VP of Finance and is a member of the Finance Department. The Finance Team is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing the financial performance of the organization. The Senior Financial Analyst/Project Manager is responsible for analysis, forecasting and budgeting duties including but not limited to performing the key functions outlined below.
Role Accountabilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leads other team members in preparing and analyzing consolidated reporting on actuals, forecasts, budgets, and prior fiscal year.
- Provides detailed support and analysis of the company’s revenue and margin forecasts and departmental budgets.
- Analyzes and quantifies the financial impact of supplier contract changes.
- Develops presentations summarizing financial results and ad-hoc business analyses for senior management.
- Develops and maintains financial models to support individual business segments within the organization.
- Lead the forecasting process with business segment leaders.
- Liaison with Accounting to ensure accurate voyage and financial reporting.
- Develops processes to maintain voyage and vessel-related cost standards based on several sources including but not limited to contracts, invoiced costs, and other available information.
- Responsible to review and reconcile variances between cost standards and actual costs; initiating corrective action as required.
- Analyzes and create reporting for voyage financial and operational KPIs.
- Lead business modeling that provides benchmarking and process analysis.
- Decides on process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function.
- Supports positive relationships with several external service providers to the business.
- Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and accomplishing related results as needed.
KEY WORK RELATIONSHIPS
The Senior Financial Analyst/Project Manager will work closely with leadership and will require a demonstration of clear and effective communication. The incumbent must be respectful of individuals of different cultural differences and personalities.
Key Qualifications & Skills (What knowledge will ensure success in the role?)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in key functions listed above.
- Experience self-managing and working in a team environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, SQL, and visual reporting tools
- Experience with accounting procedures and terminology.
Professional Skills
- Proven working experience as a financial analyst.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and database management skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, in written and oral form.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and drive to meet deadlines.
- Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market, and business environments.
- Must enjoy a dynamic environment and be able to remain flexible and manage multiple priorities.
- Skill in being flexible and able to handle changing priorities over multiple priorities, tasks, and situations.
- Familiarity with the maritime and/or transportation industries is desired but not required.
Physical Demands
To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods at a desk. The work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects.
