Job Description

Our Fortune 100 telecom client is hiring a Network Engineer to join their Engineering Business Support team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our growing network infrastructure, with a strong focus on packet core technologies. Your primary objective will be to ensure network availability, stability, and security for our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, and packet core).
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS) with a focus on packet core elements.
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations specific to packet core components.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability of packet core networks.
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning, particularly in packet core environments.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team, ensuring compliance in packet core architectures.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution, focusing on packet core solutions.
  • Document network topology, infrastructure, and operational procedures with an emphasis on packet core networks.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support when necessary, especially for packet core-related issues.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of professional experience in a similar network engineer role, with a strong background in packet core technologies.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, SNMP) and packet core-specific protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools related to packet core systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with tools such as NetScout, Wireshark, RAN tools, CDR tools, and provisioning tools, particularly in packet core contexts.
  • Ability to use ticketing tools such as Service Now, OneConsole, and Axiom.
  • Proven experience with OEMs such as Nokia, Ericsson, Mavenier, Cisco, JMA, Corning, Commscope, ADRF, Solid, especially in packet core deployments.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, etc.) are a plus.
