Job Summary:

The Finance Business Analyst is responsible for providing critical insights and analysis that support strategic decision-making and strong financial performance. The Finance Business Analyst will be a crucial partner to sales, operations, and the leadership team, providing insights and relevant reporting to drive performance, continuous improvement, efficiencies, and automation opportunities. The position requires fluency in data manipulation and analysis, business and financial reporting, and a passion for challenging the status quo while optimizing processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Intelligence:

  • Develop and integrate SQL queries into a Financial and Operational reporting package
  • Assist the Business Intelligence team with workflow and process improvements and projects

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Analyze the Company’s actual performance compared to business plans based on financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Prepare, interpret, and distribute management reporting related to customer profitability, pricing, job costing, and labor management
  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for the leadership team

Pricing Strategy and Support:

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability and market share
  • Use statistical and data analysis techniques to forecast profit trends and assess pricing effectiveness
  • Partner with sales to provide pricing guidance and insights into expected margin

Cost Management:

  • Prepare and review operational reports for trends, variances, risks and opportunities
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend actionable strategies to improve profitability
  • Maintain and update hourly production cost center rates within the ERP
  • Evaluate capital investment opportunities through the preparation of Capital Justifications

Process Improvement:

  • Present financial findings and recommendations to senior management in a clear and concise manner
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and analysis

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Correspond with various departments regarding financial reports to drive accountability, understanding, continuous improvement and enhancements/efficiencies to cross functional processes
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and sales, to gather relevant financial information and support business initiatives

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning, budgeting, and decision-making
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting the industry
  • Provide support for month-end close and the year-end audit


Ideal Skills:

  • Knowledge of financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL or QLIK required
  • Ability to analyze large complex datasets into actionable information
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with cross functional groups and the leadership team
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Foundational programming skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Business or related field (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration)
  • Alternatively, Bachelor’s in IT or related field (Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science)
  • Experience as a Finance Business Analyst or similar position preferred
