Our client wants to expand its services with web accessibility and remediation. They are looking for an Accessibility Specialist to join their team. This resource will work alongside 7 other specialists and will be front-facing with clients to help test and validate web-based user interfaces against compliance regulations such as Section 508, ADA, and AODA. From that testing, they will utilize their understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to help clients with remediation work and thorough documentation. Overall, they are helping consult and create a good plan of due diligence to help improve clients' web experience. The focus of the accessibility review is around WCAG 2.1, but the larger goal is to improve site usability as a whole with a universal design mindset.


Must Haves:

  • 5+ years digital accessibility work
  • Mobile apps and web
  • Front-end tools: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Accessibility Guidelines: WCAG, WAI-ARIA, and ACT
  • Accessibility tools: JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover, ZoomText, Dragon NaturallySpeaking
  • Manual and automated compatibility testing
  • Consulting background- pull in requirements, communicate with development team

  • Remediation experience for PDF and other document formats
  • Accessibility Management Platforms
  • Built or contributed to building accessibility testing tools
  • IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
  • Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certification
  • Department of Homeland Security Section 508 Trusted Tester Certification v5


Responsibilities:

  • Consultation - consult with clients on both a technical level of how to resolve issues as well as helping develop processes and content governance
  • Testing and Planning - work with clients to determine the testing environment, requirements, and goals. You will test systems against a mixture of automated, specific manual tests, and assistive technology tools
  • Reporting / Documentation - deliver results of accessibility audits and tests as well as participate in follow-up communication with clients
  • Protocol Development - contribute to internal processes to improve our support process for customers and end users
  • Remediation - utilize development and technical skills to actually go into code and documents in order to resolve accessibility barriers
  • Educate - help foster knowledge and growth in both internal and external communities
