Human Resource Director

Our client is looking for an experienced and strategic Human Resource Director to lead and manage the HR department. This key leadership role will involve planning, developing, and administering HR policies and initiatives that align with the organization's mission and talent strategy. The HR Director will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance across all HR functions while driving the implementation of effective talent management and organizational development programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
- Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement HR policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s compliance and strategic HR needs.
- Administer human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management (including annual performance reviews and succession planning), productivity, recognition, and morale, as well as occupational health and safety, and training and development.
- Analyze trends in compensation and benefits, research, and propose competitive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Partner with business leadership on staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for talent acquisition and management.
- Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for new hires.
- Negotiate agreements with recruiting firms, in collaboration with CFO/Finance, when necessary, to support recruiting efforts.
- Oversee the employee new hire process, including pre-onboarding and onboarding through to the start date.
- Conduct reference checks and process background checks for all new employees.
- Manage the company’s HR and payroll system
- Serve as the liaison for system-related issues experienced by management or employees.
- Set up new hires, monitor accrual time, taxes, benefits, and other key data.
- Assist the Finance team with payroll processing, ensuring employee timecards are reviewed, signed off by management, and that all time off and benefit records are accurately updated.
- Manage, attend, and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as appropriate.
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; review and modify policies and practices, including the employee handbook, to maintain compliance.
- Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, and communicate any changes to upper management.
- Develop and implement the HR department’s budget.
- Facilitate Sexual Harassment training and new hire training sessions.
- Serve as the primary contact for third-party administrators related to HR; manage communications to enroll new hires in benefit plans and disenroll terminated employees from benefits and COBRA.
- Administer the company’s 401K plan
- Perform other duties as required.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Proficiency with Paycor or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
- Maintain current compliance posters in company offices in NYC and GC (in each suite).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree a plus.
- At least five years of human resource experience.
- Substantial recruiting experience.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
