Job Description

Summary of position:

This full-time position reports to the Director of Data Management and Clinical Monitoring. The Administrative Coordinator liaises with hospital based forensic services and other agencies to coordinate the admissions and discharges of patients between jail-based facilities and forensic hospital settings. The coordinator will be involved in CPL 730 coordination through communicating 730 order transfer information to the facility mental health treatment teams. The coordinator will also be supporting forensic state hospital admissions and discharges by preparing medical records, speaking daily with admissions coordinators in the Office of Mental Health (OMH) facilities, and distributing relevant discharge information to jail based providers. The coordinator will support the Director of Data Management and Clinical Monitoring on projects related to special populations and treatment housing units, and may also participate in other tasks as requested by the CHS Clinical Service.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaboration with OMH forensic admissions personnel to facilitate state hospital admissions and discharges.
  • Preparation of medical records for patients transferring between state hospitals and CHS.
  • Managing documentation required for infection control protocols between OMH and CHS.
  • Sending daily report of state hospital admissions and discharges to mental health management teams including relevant incoming transfer records, medication lists, and infection control information.
  • Maintaining a database of patients referred to treatment housing units and support communication regarding transfers into these units.
  • Administrative support to the Director of Data Management and Clinical Monitoring on projects related to high risk and other populations on treatment housing units.


Qualification Requirements:

Education

  1. Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling, and three (3) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, two (2) years of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician or three (3) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including two (2) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or,

A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the disciplines listed in (1), and two (2) years of full-time experience as listed in (1), plus one (1) year experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations as listed in (1); or,

  1. 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.


Department Preferences:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with community partners and other disciplines, including DOC staff;
  • Data management experience.
  • Experience coordinating with state and external agencies.
  • Familiarity with the NYC criminal justice system.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite


Minimum Qualifications

1. A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and

2. Two (2) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, one (1) year of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician; or two (2) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including one (1) year in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or

3. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in “1” above; and

4. Three (3) years of full-time experience, as described in “2” above, including two (2) years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations, as listed in “2” above; or

5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
