LA Sushi CO has successfully built itself a strong reputation in the local market over the past 4 years. First kicking off with several consumer-facing market tests held in Downtown Los Angeles, LA Sushi CO now proudly serves as the official sushi vendor of SoFi and BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, as well as Angeles stadium in Anaheim and continues to cater private events & Omakase tastings across Southern California. Our first retail operation will open in 2024.


Role Description

This is a full-time or part-time on-site role for a Sushi Chef at LA SUSHI CO located in Los Angeles, CA (Brentwood). The Sushi Chef will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks of food preparation, slicing, and creating sushi dishes.


Qualifications Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience (required)
  • Highly level proficiency knife skills
  • Previous Sous Sushi Chef (or comparable leadership role) experience in a restaurant environment
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a professional and hospitality driven restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Certified in all safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
  • Bi-Lingual Japanese/English preferred
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with receiving policies and procedures.
  • Active engagement with guests; start and end the guest experience through opening and closing statements.
  • Monthly review and understanding of P&L and yearly budget objectives.
  • Possess a Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection from the local Department of Health that has jurisdiction over the employing property.
  • Assume 100% responsibility for the quality of service.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform inventory and purchasing responsibilities on a daily and monthly basis, in conjunction with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager.


Job Type:

Full-time or part-time

Salary: $27-$30 per hour +tips (45hours+ per week)

Benefit: Health Insurance after 90 days
