Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Distribution Center Manager to lead operations at a newly established distribution facility in Montgomery, NY. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with a hands-on management style, a strong operational background, and a proven ability to drive efficiencies and team success in a fast-paced distribution environment. The Distribution Center Manager will oversee the daily functions of the facility, managing a team of 25-30 employees, including operations supervisors, warehouse associates, and administrative support staff.

  • Schedule: The distribution center operates two shifts: first shift begins at 6:30 a.m. and the second shift begins at 2:00 p.m. The manager has the flexibility to set their own schedule, typically starting around 8:00 a.m.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Oversee a team of 25-30 employees, including warehouse associates, supervisors, and administrative staff. Responsible for hiring, training, and developing top talent, while fostering a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Operational Management: Manage all aspects of the facility’s operations, including inventory control, shipping/receiving, and quality assurance. Ensure the center operates efficiently, accurately, and safely.
  • Financial Oversight: Own the P&L for the distribution center, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Maximize profitability through efficient resource allocation and operational improvements.
  • Customer & Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors. Understand local market dynamics and respond to customer needs to ensure high service levels.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure the facility adheres to all safety policies, HR regulations, and compliance standards. Maintain compliance with industry best practices and relevant regulations, including JSOX standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement changes to drive productivity, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.


Key Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of distribution center management experience in mid-to-large companies. A hands-on, “in-the-weeds” management style is required to lead the team effectively.
  • Financial Management: Strong experience in P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Proven ability to drive profitability through financial acumen.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and develop a team of 25-30 employees. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and build a cohesive team.
  • Operations Expertise: Extensive knowledge of inventory control, shipping/receiving, quality assurance, and other key warehouse operations.
  • Customer/Vendor Relations: Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors. Skilled in managing local market dynamics and meeting customer requirements.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of safety regulations, HR policies, and JSOX compliance. Ability to ensure the distribution center operates in full compliance with industry standards and regulations.


Desired Skills:

  • ERP Systems Experience: Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or other inventory management systems is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to address complex issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, from warehouse staff to senior leadership.
