Position Summary:

The Electrical Power Distribution Applications Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure reliable and efficient power distribution in industrial and commercial settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Customers and Sales Team:
  • Work closely with customers, sales personnel, and representatives to understand end-user application requirements.
  • Develop and recommend appropriate electrical solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Consult with Plants and Engineering:
  • Interpret and define new equipment applications in collaboration with plants and engineering teams.
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure the feasibility and efficiency of proposed solutions.
  • Develop Sales Drawings and Bills-of-Material:
  • Generate a variety of basic sales drawings and bills-of-material based on established product designs.
  • Design electrical power distribution systems, including medium and low voltage systems.
  • Develop detailed schematics, blueprints, and specifications for power distribution equipment.
  • Perform load calculations and ensure systems meet regulatory standards and client requirements.
  • Create Project Proposals:
  • Utilize sales drawings and bills-of-material to develop comprehensive project proposals.
  • Proposals will encompass mechanical and electrical switchboard and switchgear components.
  • Advise Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing:
  • Offer guidance and support to engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing teams as needed.
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of information for the production of equipment according to customer specifications.
  • Conduct Special Development/Application Projects:
  • Undertake special development and application projects of a complex nature.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to align project goals and expectations.
  • Prepare project documentation, including progress reports and technical manuals.
  • Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure all systems and projects comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 2 + years of electrical power industry experience or Associate Degree with 4+ years of electrical power industry experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the electrical equipment or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and components.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for generating sales drawings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
