We are looking for an experienced and responsible Safety Coordinator to join our team. As the Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the company's employee safety at work. Your main duty is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.


Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Provide proactive leadership of all Health and Safety programs at the Louisville Production Operation

·        Serve as Safety and Health over-site of Louisville site and assist production/safety leader to drive synergies for all HMI Health and Safety Programs

·        Ensure 100% compliance of plant operations with regulatory requirements relating to Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety

·        Develop and implement current and new initiatives, programs and process improvements to reduce injuries and illnesses and continuous improvement programs for overall Health and Safety performance

·        Monitor safety related costs (capital and expense), capital requests, provides input into safety related budgetary items, tracks performance to plan and prepares reports and presentations on costs associated with safety program and metrics.

·        Aggressively minimize accidents and injuries by creating accountability programs with all functions and associates.

·        Develop and implement safety committees to drive employee involvement in safety performance.

·        Develop and maintain excellent local and state agency relationships.

·        Support and conduct Health and Safety compliance assurance and HMI Metrics audits and provide sustainable corrective actions for resolution.

·        Conduct and/or validate accident investigations to determine root cause and sustainable solutions utilizing 5whys/7ways.

·        Conduct ergonomic evaluations and drive for short and long term corrective actions to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and resultant worker’s compensation costs.

·        Establish proactive Health and Safety culture and reduce risk-taking behaviors to prevent accidents in the workplace.

·        Manage data on HMI Corporate Google site and prepare reports as necessary.

·        Support HMI wellness activities to promote workplace and home employee health.

Training/Security

·        Serve as the primary point of contact for all regulatory, First aid and injury avoidance training

·        Manage training compliance at all locations to ensure 100% training completion compliance

·        Create and deliver highly impactful/interactive injury reduction and regulatory required training

·        Ensure compliance with all facility security policies and procedures for vehicle access, shipping and receiving, visitor management, etc.

·        Schedule and daily oversight of the contract security guards at the facility.

Perform associated and other duties as required.

Must Requirements (including any physical requirements):

·        BS or BA Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related discipline.

·        Minimum 5 years of HS experience – leading Health and Safety compliance programs in a manufacturing environment.

·        Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, HMT/DOT, Life Safety and Demonstrated ability to lead in a cross-functional team.

·        Excellent oral, written and training communication skills.

·        Ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs.

·        Proven record of problem solving, results and accomplishments.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of Health, Safety, Fire and Government regulations.

·        Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

·        Willingness to travel 10%

·        Collaborative mindset

 

Preferred Requirements

·        Master’s Degree in an EHS discipline

·        Advanced computer skills

·        Audit experience or qualifications

·        Board Certified Safety Professional
