Field Service Engineer, Japanese Bilingual Preferred

A manufacturing equipment and solutions company in NJ is seeking a field service engineer to support the company's growing machinery base and service work.

The Field Service Engineer will work in collaboration with the operations team, OEM Engineers and customers to develop work scopes and execute the projects keeping our customers' success as the primary goal.

This position includes travel up to 75% of the time, typically about 50%, almost all of it in the USA.


The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience as a field engineer in mechanical equipment, although entry-level candidates are also welcome as the company provides training.


Responsibilities

  • Undertake Service, Upgrade and General Maintenance work on wire and cable making machinery.
  • The bulk of work will be dealing with Bunching & Cabling Machines and Extrusion Lines. Additionally dealing with Electroplating Lines, Wire Drawing machines and auxiliary machinery as required.
  • Troubleshoot, validate and fix mechanical as well as electrical problems.
  • Partake in commissioning of new equipment along with OEM commissioning engineers.
  • Be the liaison between customer and the OEM.
  • Make reports for each service visit and maintain service log.
  • Manage service ticket and other work management systems related to this role.
  • Provide remote support to clients as required.
  • Most work will require travel to customers' site. Additionally, travel to OEM's facility overseas for training as and when needed.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and in factory environments.
  • Ability to interface with customer professionally and coordinate work as required with all parties involved.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, be self motivated and ability to work with cross-functioning teams.
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in a Technical Discipline.
  • 2-5 years hands-on experience working with Mechanical systems and production machinery.
  • Electronic controls experience working with PLC and HMI is a plus.
  • Proficient in using productivity tools such as Microsoft office, Google Drive, Evernote and other work management software.
  • Japanese language skills are highly desired but not necessary.
