Position: Enrollment and Intake Therapist
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Purpose of Position: The Enrollment and Intake Therapist is responsible for the enrollment of participants into the Organization's program prior to their release from incarceration as well as the participant intake into post release services. This role works closely with the Enrollment and Pre-Release Administrator to ensure all activities related to enrollment are complete and to ensure participants remain engaged during the pre and post release program transition. The Enrollment and Intake Therapist will use standardized assessments to determine participant’s needs, diagnose, and create goals and objectives for treatment. Acts as backup for the Pre-release Therapist providing services inside the prisons when needed.
This position reports to EVP, Head of Education and Employment Reports to EVP, Head of Behavioral Health and Wellness.
Major Duties:
- Interview incarcerated participants over the phone or in person throughout the state for program enrollment.
- Administer assessments including the PAS, SAGE, BHI, and CSSRS.
- Obtain written consent from individuals to participate in the Company's Re-entry Model.
- Determine if individual meets criteria for Model.
- Convert qualified individuals to participants in the program.
- Maintain and update records for assigned participants in the electronic record system.
- Work within the constraints of correctional setting, complying with all institutional rules regarding safety and security.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, prison staff and administration, team members, volunteers, community partners and adhere to Company policies.
- Document all conversations, assessment, and documents in the electronic record system.
- Responding to inquiries and referrals from incarcerated individuals.
- Act as the liaison and conduit for incarcerated individuals from Release date to end of Landing phase with other team members.
- Able to resolve conflict in crisis situations, redirect and set boundaries, and pivot as new priorities arise in the day.
- Outreach calls to enrolled participants that do not arrive at the Landing.
- Conduct Intake Group sessions with participants.

Working Conditions:
- Works in an office. Travel by car to employment partner worksites. May work evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands:
- Essential abilities include the ability to sit or stand at a personal computer for a reasonable period of time typing and reading. Must be able to see, hear, speak, walk, and sit. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Education, Experience, and Licensure:
- Masters in social work, psychology, or related counseling degree
- 3-5 years of work experience in mental health and substance use disorders
- Familiar with and endorse 12 step program
- LPC or LCSW
- Appropriate driver’s license
- Obtain and maintain Department of Corrections’ security clearance
