ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Project Execution: Assist in managing and executing various aspects of site location projects, with guidance from the VP of Economic Development. This includes analyzing real estate, liaising with relevant partners, completing research requests, and preparing project proposals.
  • Information Requests: Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) at the direction of the VP of Economic Development.
  • Database Management: Support the management and administration of internal databases and research tools, including but not limited to buildings and sites database, Salesforce, JobsEQ, ZoomProspector, and CoStar. Monitor and measure project activity and pipeline using Salesforce.
  • Research & Reports: Conduct ad hoc research to support economic development initiatives within Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. and the Forsyth County business community. Assist in developing and presenting regular research reports to supplement local economic development and real estate trends.
  • Relationship Cultivation: Maintain meaningful professional relationships with economic development stakeholders and allies, utility partners, and real estate brokers through regular contact and communication.
  • Support Initiatives: Assist with organizational initiatives by preparing and delivering correspondence, reports, presentations, itineraries, agendas, and supporting materials.
  • Market Familiarity: Gain and maintain familiarity with the region’s marketable assets, local leadership, and available buildings and sites, including proactive outreach for real estate opportunities in the community.
  • Area Promotion: Assist in packaging and selling the area to prospects, applying knowledge of governmental regulations, industry strengths, infrastructure requirements, and labor markets.
  • Client & Industry Relations: Support the Economic Development Team’s partner and client relations efforts, including attending and coordinating client visits, hospitality, and outreach activities. Stay updated on economic development trends and opportunities for business growth by attending relevant conferences, tradeshows, and marketing missions.
  • Employer Engagement: Work with employers to identify in-demand jobs and skills gaps through employer visits and needs surveys.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Economic Development and the President/CEO of the organization.


NON-ESSENTIAL/PERIPHERAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend chamber-related events and meetings when requested.
  • Participate in various community service organizations and boards that further the mission of the organization and as designated by the CEO.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in an industry-related position preferred.
  • Strong analytical, research, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using research tools and databases.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with local economic development trends and real estate markets is preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, objectivity, the ability to clearly convey information in challenging situations that require tact, courtesy, and professional decorum; exercise optimism and empathy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to productively interact, communicate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including GWSI team members.
  • Ability to deliver informative, engaging, and persuasive presentations.
  • Commitment to maintain confidential and sensitive information; uphold ethical responsibilities and obligations by safeguarding entrusted information on behalf of the organization and its stakeholders; understand and implement applicable policies, rules and regulations.
  • Hold valid NC driver’s license.
