We are seeking an exceptional Director of Application Support to oversee critical business applications within our client's financial services environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless functionality across portfolio management, trading, risk management, ERP, market data, investment accounting, and back-office platforms. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, extensive financial services experience, and the ability to effectively manage a 24x6 support team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team providing 24x6 support for third-party platforms including portfolio management, trading, risk management, ERP, market data, investment accounting, and back-office systems.
  • Develop and implement support strategies, processes, and best practices to maintain high availability and performance of all supported applications.
  • Define strategic direction for IT support services, emphasizing automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for service processes and strategies, advocating for enhancements and new functionalities.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure third-party support services align with organizational standards and SLAs.
  • Oversee incident management and problem resolution, ensuring timely responses and minimal downtime for critical applications.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align applications with business needs and ensure continuous operational efficiency.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and SLAs to track team performance, providing regular reporting on internal metrics.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the support team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize support processes and enhance application reliability and user satisfaction.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of support processes, incidents, and resolutions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a cutting-edge support function.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in application support within the financial services industry, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of portfolio management, trading, risk management, ERP, market data, investment accounting, and back-office systems.
  • Familiarity with Charles River, Bloomberg, Rimes, MarkitEDM, Factset, AWS, Azure, VMWare, Investment Accounting Platforms, Jira Service Desk, Workday, and Blackrock toolsets preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks, DevOps, and Agile practices.
  • Experience supporting platforms on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing support teams in a 24x6 environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
