About the role

This is a hybrid position within our Fishers office. We want our associates to have the flexibility they need, but also have access to the connectivity to their co-workers and office time.


As a Business Development Representative at SMARI, you will be seeking new business prospects by contacting and developing relationships with prospective customers. As a BDR, you are responsible for generating new business opportunities and fostering long-term client relationships through proactive engagement and various outreach activities. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and is expected to understand and promote SMARI’s expertise, values, and vast industry knowledge.

  • Identify and qualify potential customers through targeted research and outreach
  • Maintain and grow existing leads
  • Conduct outbound prospecting activities, including cold calling and email campaigns
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities within the market
  • Drive sales growth and pipeline by setting up qualified meetings
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of our products and services
  • Collaborate with the Account Management team to ensure that leads are properly handed off and nurtured through the sales process
  • Meet and exceed monthly activity and pipeline goals
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities in HubSpot
  • Continuously improve your knowledge of the industry, market trends, and competitors
  • Attend industry events and conferences to network and generate new business opportunities
  • Create opportunities to represent SMARI culture and values with external audiences
  • Assist marketing to research company efforts that involve new product/service development


Who You Are & What You’ve Done

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Must have a proven track record of achieving sales quotas.
  • Must be a tenacious self-starter with a proven ability to operate independently and achieve results; enthusiastic, committed and conscientious.
  • Great telephone etiquette and computer literacy skills are required.
  • Must be effective at organizing, planning, and prioritizing work to maintain contact with all customers and prospects.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Uplead, LinkedIn Premium is desired.
  • Familiarity with MS Excel and the ability to analyze spreadsheets and charts is required.
  • Must possess a great understanding of sales performance metrics.
  • The ability to suggest ideas and deliver engaging presentations is required.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required.
