Job Summary:
The Construction Site Field Engineer will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of construction projects in Sumter, SC. The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Management:
- Oversee and manage on-site activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor progress and provide updates to the project manager on a regular basis.
Quality Control:
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that work is being completed according to plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in construction processes.
- Ensure that all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
Technical Support:
- Assist in the interpretation of design documents and provide technical guidance to construction teams.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to address any technical challenges that arise during construction.
- Review and validate construction drawings, specifications, and other related documents.
Safety Compliance:
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring that all safety protocols and procedures are followed.
- Conduct safety audits and toolbox talks to maintain a safe working environment.
- Report any safety incidents or near-misses to the safety officer and project manager.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including labor, materials, and equipment usage.
- Prepare and submit daily reports, site diaries, and other required documentation to the project manager.
- Assist in the preparation of change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA,
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in construction site management or field engineering.
- Experience in industrial or commercial construction projects is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on construction sites, including standing, walking, and climbing ladders/scaffolding.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
