Position Overview: Defense Technical Recruiting is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented System Administrator to join the team in the Annapolis Junction, MD. The System Administrator will support, troubleshoot, and maintain computer servers and networks. This person will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. From early on, the systems administrator will empower breakthrough innovations, take on challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and be responsible for results.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Supports the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
- Supports upgrades to computer components and software, management of virtual servers, and integration of automation processes.
- Supports troubleshooting hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Supports documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure.
- Supports regular backup operations and implements appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Supports desktop and helpdesk efforts, ensuring all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
- Supports capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
- Monitors and manages all installed systems and infrastructure.
- The ideal candidate will have outstanding technical talent with a desire to continuously learn and apply new skills and technologies.
- Travel: Minimal
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Requires DoD Top Secret Security clearance, SCI eligibility.
- 2+ years of experience administering Unix/Linux servers.
- DoD 8570.01-1 IAM Level III. Or Level II and can upgrade within 6 months.
