The Senior Counsel position works with and among all PlaneSense departments to ensure product and service excellence across all lines of business. This position reports directly to the General Counsel as a member of a five-person legal team.

 

Role:


Success in the Senior Counsel position relies upon an ability to work independently, be a self-starter, set priorities, and manage multiple and varied legal tasks. This role benefits from an attorney with a proactive and service-first mindset, who is a creative problem solver and is eager to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external constituencies. 

 

The primary duties of the Senior Counsel include:


  • Drafting, reviewing, and revising fractional interest and other PlaneSense program related documents.
  • Working collaboratively with prospective and existing fractional interest owners and their advisors through written and oral communications.
  • Working collaboratively with our Sales, Marketing, and Owner Services teams.
  • Advising in areas of domestic and international regulatory compliance (particularly with respect to the FAA, NTSB, and TSA), airport use, aviation laws, labor and employment law, risk management, federal and state litigation, intellectual property, data privacy, contracts, and other matters related to aviation.
  • Consulting with and managing outside counsel on litigation matters.
  • Providing timely, practical, and business-oriented legal advice to all departments.
  • Proactively assisting in the identification and implementation of policies and processes.
  • Coordinating with the Human Resources team and outside counsel where applicable on various labor and employment matters.
  • Providing regulatory and other legal training to various departments.

 

Qualifications:

 

The Senior Counsel must have significant experience with asset purchase, sale, and leasing transactions. Although aviation experience is not required for this position, it is preferred. The following minimum qualifications are required of all applicants:


  • Candidates must have a J.D. degree and be a member of the Bar, in good standing, in at least one U.S. state.
  • 5-8 years of experience as an attorney (preferably including at least 2 years of in-house experience).
  • Ability to reside in, enter and re-enter and work in the United States; and willingness to work at the corporate headquarters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Good strategic thinking and business acumen. Ability to quickly analyze and propose a course of action.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain strong relationships while inspiring trust and confidence with and among legal department end users.
  • Current familiarity with corporate law, business entity formation and operation across multiple entity types including corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships.
  • Ability to review, understand and revise contracts and business documents.
  • Strong desire to work cooperatively with attorneys and paralegals as a member of a legal team, as well as a team-forward approach to interdepartmental cooperative work.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and collaboratively resolving legal and business issues.
