Account Executive – AI Startup

Every so often, a disruptive company comes along with the potential to change the world, and we are at the forefront of the AI revolution CustomGPT has taken off like a SpaceX rocket, and in just over 18 months, we’ve gone from inception to the “Top 10 Emerging Leaders in Generative AI” by GAI Insights, a respected industry analyst firm that places us amongst giants such as Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. We are a red-hot, AI startup that has a strong core of motivated associates, looking to add individuals who want more than a job, but who want to create something special.


As an Account Executive, you will identify, source, and close net new, outbound business opportunities for our AI platform. The current target segment is SME businesses up to $100M in revenue, with possible moves upstream as the platform matures. This is not only a hunter position who looks for new leads, but also a unique opportunity to shape the sales organization of a scaling AI startup by designing the go-to-market strategy in terms of value proposition and customer profile, while constructing the outbound strategy and process of finding new business. Our AI product is unique, the industry is exploding, and we are completely bootstrapped and were profitable within 90 days.


The position:

Prospecting: Responsible for prospecting, qualifying leads, and approximately 3-5 discovery calls per day where you would uncover pain points, challenges, and provide value

Presentations: Be expected to run 1-3 demos per week for prospective customers

Sales Cycle Management: Educate and guide prospects through the sales cycle (average 30 days) to help them learn how CustomGPT can grow their business in the short term and scale for the long term

Close: Close net new business at or above quota level

Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, marketing, & technology departments to execute strategy as the company introduces enhancements to existing solutions and/or releases new products

Innovate: Bring your thinking, strategies, and ideas to advance our company’s values, unique culture, and vision for the future

Mentor: While this is an individual contributor role, we are targeting someone who can be a great player coach to existing sales team and potentially build a sales organization down the road


Who we’re looking for:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a full cycle, B2B sales role (SaaS experience preferred)
  • Experience prospecting and closing new business
  • Bachelors’ degree in business or STEM field preferred
  • Preferably scaled a startup in the past, while putting in process and establishing value proposition
  • Have exceptional consultative selling and closing skills
  • You have a metric driven focus toward meeting and exceeding quota
  • You have strong consultative selling skills; you will balance primarily passive leads for your pipeline in addition to qualifying inbound leads
  • Someone proactive in uncovering and solutioning their gaps and raising their skill level

No remote work: This job is for an in-person role at our Needham, MA office. We’re a highly collaborative group, and find that in-person interaction is best for our cohesive culture
