Overview:


ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Health Physics Planner position will analyze and review radiation safety plans, programs, and procedures. This role involves research and investigations to ensure everything meets safety standards. Additionally, this Planner will collaborate on station work planning, specifically focusing on the radiological aspects of tasks. This full-time position is located in Richland, WA.


Pay rate: $39.12 - $52.38

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, and schedule work activities for the Radiation Protection Department.
  • Estimate potential radiation doses for various tasks and develop strategies to minimize exposure (ALARA principle).
  • Lead monthly dose budget meetings to review departmental radiation exposure goals.
  • Analyze radiation protection performance data and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure worker safety.
  • Conduct regular reviews of departmental activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and industry regulations, standards, and recommendations.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Implement necessary changes to improve the effectiveness of the radiation protection program.
  • Provide expert technical support in health physics to address operational and licensing tasks.
  • Offer guidance in areas such as radiation exposure monitoring, radiological controls, and dose reduction techniques.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a science related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in radiation protection either as a Health Physics Technician, RP Supervisor or RP professional staff position.
  • OR An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Health Physics and a minimum of 7 years of experience in radiation protection either as a Health Physics Technician, RP Supervisor or RP professional staff position.
  • OR A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 9 years of experience in radiation protection either as a Health Physics Technician, RP Supervisor or RP professional staff position. A technical training certificate in Health Physics will be considered year for year in exchange for required experience.
  • At least 1 year of the required experience be in radiation protection work at a nuclear facility dealing with radiological problems similar to those encountered in commercial nuclear power plants.
  • Ability to maintain radiation worker qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse teams.
  • Basic BWR systems training (or equivalent for other reactor types).
  • Strong analytical and data evaluation skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing, reporting, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet business goals while emphasizing quality and safety within budgets and schedules.
  • Independent judgment and decision-making skills for planning and implementing activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Professional communication skills (verbal, written, and computer).
  • Working knowledge of work planning/ALARA planning software.
  • Knowledge of radiological planning processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of station organization and functions, with basic knowledge of plant systems with radiological impact.
