What will your day look like?

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the design and development of new products, equipment, and structural upgrades to defense equipment and vehicles.
  • Performing a broad range of design and review tasks using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Designing components, systems, and assemblies, including modified parts and new designs.
  • Utilizing technical studies and analysis to prepare inputs to program documentation.
  • Generating BOMs, schematics, technical drawings, and maps to communicate designs to the organization.
  • Participating in hands-on first article installation and development, including testing of prototype components and systems.
  • Reviewing final documents for completeness and compliance.
  • Leading meetings, design reviews, and briefings.
  • Identifying and reporting on issues or related problems, recommending risk mitigation strategies.
  • Working in a team environment under general guidelines set by the Chief Engineer, taking initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Modifying and adapting techniques and standard approaches to solve moderately difficult problems.


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Perform a broad range of design and review tasks.
  • Design components, systems, assemblies, and new designs.
  • Generate BOMs, schematics, technical drawings, and maps.
  • Execute and document testing of prototype components and systems.
  • Lead meetings, design reviews, and briefings.
  • Identify and report on issues and recommend risk mitigation.
  • Work in a team environment, taking initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Modify and adapt techniques and standard approaches to solve problems.


Experience:

  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in the following areas:
  • Developing new products and generating production-quality technical data packages.
  • SolidWorks CAD proficiency.
  • Virtual manipulation and generation of complex formed parts and surfaces.
  • Clean sheet new parts generation in SolidWorks, with FEA and structural analysis.
  • Systems engineering with gated or milestone-driven processes.
  • Improving existing products through cost and benefit analysis.
  • Interfacing with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing departments.
  • Conducting trade studies and justifying decisions and recommendations.
  • Defining system requirements and subsystem configurations.
  • Performing and supporting system-level integration.
  • Understanding production and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong individual drive and teamwork abilities, with strong organizational skills.


Education:

  • BS, BEng in Engineering (mechanics, mechanical design) from a four-year degree program.
