POSITION SUMMARY 


The NPPD Engineer is an integral part of the Sales and Engineering process. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development of new products and processes from conception through to implementation. This role requires strong technical expertise, innovative thinking, and effective project management skills to drive successful outcomes. The engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to ensure products meet quality standards, cost targets, and timeline milestones.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead the development and implementation of new products and processes, from initial concept to commercialization.
  • Brainstorm ideas and determine the best masking, tooling, fixturing and electroplating processes to produce customer interfacing new prototype samples.
  • Design and document new processes per the customer specified requirements.
  • Assist the sales team in quotes for new parts and estimates for NPPD proposals by providing suggested load sizes and lead time required to finish the deliverables.
  • Ensure the NPPD activities match the sales proposal and notify sales if a customer requests additional work.
  • Document and report completed NPPD projects to sales and the customer. Document project progress, findings, and outcomes in detailed reports and presentations.
  • Provide timely execution of projects as well as regular updates.
  • Keep detailed records of projects; store and organize related documents within developed structure.
  • Follow the established procedural breakdown structure for all projects, executing proper hand off stages according to the NPPD procedure.
  • Actively participate in the transfer of pilot processes to volume production
  • Maintains a strong understanding of materials performance properties and manufacturing processes to help recognize and mitigate risk as the product transitions from concept to production.
  • Collaborate with business development, quality and manufacturing teams to define project objectives, requirements, and specifications.
  • Design experiments, develop prototypes, and conduct feasibility studies to evaluate new concepts and technologies.
  • Document detailed process development activities, special work instructions, process specifications and inspection procedures per ISO 13485 quality requirements, or customer directed requirements.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to meet quality, cost, and efficiency targets.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise during product development and production phases.
  • Stay current with medical device industry developments, best practices, and emerging technologies related to new product and process development.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by actively seeking opportunities to enhance processes, methodologies, and tools.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in new product and process development within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge in areas such as product design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering analysis tools.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and drive results.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a proactive and positive attitude.

Work areas include general office space, inspection laboratories, and electroplating process areas. The work environment is generally favorable. Ventilation is excellent and meets applicable OSHA standards. Lighting and temperature are that of indoor manufacturing facilities.
