Prolink is hiring for an Automation Engineer & Project Leader for one of our manufacturing clients in Lexington, SC


Responsibilities:

  • Design detailed electrical systems and automation programming for assigned projects.
  • Provide estimates and technical schedules for all phases of process equipment addition, replacement, or upgrade.
  • Offer backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on new automation systems.
  • Collaborate with internal support groups to achieve objectives and manage contract engineering as needed.
  • Lead major capital projects and/or modifications from start to finish, including equipment reception, commissioning, and acceptance.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 2-4 years of engineering experience preferred.
  • Willing to travel 5% domestically and occasionally internationally.
  • Proficiency in electrical design standards and control systems design using standard CAD tools; SEE electrical experience preferred.
  • Expertise in Rockwell PLC programming standards and software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text; Siemens experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies; experience with Control Techniques, SEW MOVIMOT, and Rockwell is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HMI PanelView and FactoryTalkView ME Studio is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in controls systems network interfaces and various communication protocols, including Data-Highway +, ControlNet, and Ethernet protocols.
  • Experience in project team leadership or project management is preferred.
  • Vision System configuration and interface experience for width measurement and defect detection applications is preferred; experience with Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator is a plus.
  • Robotic configuration or knowledge is preferred; experience with Fanuc and ABB is a plus.


Project Management Skills:

  • Coordinate engineering deliverables from all contributors on the project team, including:
  • Estimating equipment, installation labor, design and startup engineering, travel, and managing project cost evolution.
  • Scheduling design engineering, procurement, installation, startup, and qualification.
  • Managing equipment procurement, including RFQ process, purchase orders, supplier progress, and equipment acceptance.
  • Contributing to equipment safety and ergonomic risk assessments.
  • Organizing onsite equipment reception, installation, startup, and ramp-up, managing customer acceptance criteria with the receiving plant.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues.
