The Product Engineer is a key player in optimizing dimensional characteristics and tooling related to the foundry/casting process. As a Product Engineer, you will collaborate with a Process Engineer to ensure the highest yield and lowest overall cost product, meeting, or exceeding customer-defined quality requirements. This role involves both new development and production castings, requiring strong communication skills to work seamlessly with engineers and the manufacturing team. Responsibilities for the Product Engineer Job in Hampton, VA include:


  • Oversee manufacturing tooling design, construction, and implementation.
  • Optimize dimensional yields of castings at minimum manufacturing cost.
  • Create manufacturing routing and processing instructions.
  • Develop and debug processes for production and developmental castings.
  • Prepare First Article Inspections to qualify parts.
  • Actively pursue the continuous improvement of existing processes.
  • Provide technical support to customers and interact regarding technical concerns.
  • Comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and some overtime.
  • Effectively write work instructions, reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and/or customers.
  • Apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university or a four-year non-engineering degree with equivalent work-related experience.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. U.S. person status as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Must be able to: Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and drawings.
  • Investment casting experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works and NX CAD.
  • Minitab/statistics knowledge and strong Excel capabilities.
  • Technical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in tooling design and/or dimensional inspection/Metrology.
