The Product Engineer is a key player in optimizing dimensional characteristics and tooling related to the foundry/casting process. As a Product Engineer, you will collaborate with a Process Engineer to ensure the highest yield and lowest overall cost product, meeting, or exceeding customer-defined quality requirements. This role involves both new development and production castings, requiring strong communication skills to work seamlessly with engineers and the manufacturing team. This position offer a base salary of $80-$10,000 per year, bpnus program and excellent benefits that start day one. Relocation assistance is available. 

Responsibilities for the Product Engineer Job in Hampton, VA include:

  • Oversee manufacturing tooling design, construction, and implementation.
  • Optimize dimensional yields of castings at minimum manufacturing cost.
  • Create manufacturing routing and processing instructions.
  • Develop and debug processes for production and developmental castings.
  • Prepare First Article Inspections to qualify parts.
  • Actively pursue the continuous improvement of existing processes.
  • Provide technical support to customers and interact regarding technical concerns.
  • Comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and some overtime.
  • Effectively write work instructions, reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and/or customers.
  • Apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university or a four-year non-engineering degree with equivalent work-related experience.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. U.S. person status as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Must be able to: Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and drawings.
  • Investment casting experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works and NX CAD.
  • Minitab/statistics knowledge and strong Excel capabilities.
  • Technical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in tooling design and/or dimensional inspection/Metrology.
