NJ Law Firm is looking for a Legal Billing Specialist who will play a pivotal role in preparing and processing client bills, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client agreements. Must know e-billing, GAAP, legal billing software and know every aspect of the legal billing process.


Responsibilities:

  • Handle various client billing tasks, including invoice preparation, adjustments, and ensuring compliance with client agreements.
  • Address billing inquiries, perform research on billing issues, and distribute billing documents like proformas, invoices, and reports.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team, attorneys, and administrative staff to mitigate financial risks for the Firm.
  • Manage complex adjustments accurately and timely.
  • Assist in opening new matters as per company guidelines and maintain client engagement letters for billing accuracy.
  • Utilize billing systems and reporting tools to meet client billing requirements, consulting with attorneys for effective solutions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of financial and client information pertinent to job duties.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR) transactions and adhere to accounting procedures.
  • Monitor Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts and unapplied cash balances according to regulatory requirements, working closely with Finance and legal teams.
  • Process cash receipts accurately, apply payments to outstanding client bills, and participate in weekly AR review meetings.


Must Haves:

  • 4+ years in legal billing for a law firm and must know every aspect of the billing process
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • E-billing and GAAP
  • MS Office, Excel, and tech-savvy to learn systems
  • Legal Billing Software
