PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring financial transparency and accountability within the Foundation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties reflect management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

Financial Planning:

  • Implement comprehensive financial planning strategies aligned with the Foundation’s goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting and decision-making processes, incorporating assumptions and scenario analysis to assess potential risks.
  • Develop and lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads and senior management to ensure accuracy and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Conduct regular forecasting to provide insights into financial performance and identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Quarterly review of budget status with department heads.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, including variance analysis, trend analysis and scenario modeling to provide insights into performance and identify opportunities for improvement to support strategic decision-making, assess financial risks, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate business opportunities such as real estate development, divestment, or acquisition.
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports and dashboards to the executive team and key stakeholders, providing clear and concise explanations of financial reports and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting models to ensure adequate liquidity for the Foundation’s operational needs and support obligations to The University of Toledo and affiliates.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis to optimize treasury operations and support the organization’s overall financial goals.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with various departments to understand their financial needs and provide support and guidance as necessary. Collaboration with internal departments and individual stakeholders on creating and explaining operation budget.

Treasury and Business Banking:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business banking relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies for banking operations including signers and other maintenance.
  • Manage the day-to-day banking needs of the organization. This includes monitoring fraud prevention features such as positive pay. Report any suspicious transactions or discrepancies.
  • Monitor cash balances across various accounts and institutions to make recommendation for optimizing cash utilization.
  • Enter or approve treasury transactions as needed such as ACH payments, wire transfers, upload positive pay files, monitor exceptions, and monitor interest rates.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of treasury policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements. This includes but is not limited to GAAP, CASE standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist with financial reports to external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and auditors. May be called upon to assist with footnotes and other information needed to complete annual financial audit fund reports, annual report, or others as needed.
