Job Summary:

The QC E&I Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation installations meet quality standards and project specifications. This position will primarily inspect and assist in the execution of various E&I scopes, including 34kV power cable, 34kV switchgear, medium-voltage power cable, medium-voltage switchgear terminations, and all low-voltage Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (E&IC) scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Testing:
  • Inspect and verify installations of 34kV power cables, 34kV switchgear, medium-voltage power cables, and medium-voltage switchgear terminations.
  • Perform inspections on low-voltage E&IC installations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct electrical testing, including insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and other standard procedures for power and instrumentation systems.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the latest construction drawings, project specifications, and company standards.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the latest codes and standards.
  • Checks installation of instruments
  • Checks pneumatic signal connection.
  • Checks fiber optic cable.
  • Review and maintain records of all inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) protocols.
  • Monitor ongoing work activities, ensuring all necessary steps are taken to meet project timelines and quality requirements.
  • Performs punch-listing operations.
  • Checks power transformers, switchboard, accumulator battery, sockets outlet, lighting system.
  • Performs visual inspections, dimensional test, checks rating and material for connection.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of the approved company, client and vendor Inspection Test Plans.
  • Documentation:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, test records, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and punch lists.
  • Assist in compiling and reviewing turnover documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and calibration certificates.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Coordinate with project managers, electrical foremen, and other trades to ensure timely and quality completion of E&I scopes.
  • Communicate quality concerns to construction teams and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Participate in regular QC meetings to discuss project progress, quality issues, and safety protocols.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations such as NEC, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards and best practices in electrical and instrumentation quality control.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality Control E&I-related role, preferably in an industrial construction, Oil & Gas, or energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of 34kV power cables, switchgear, medium-voltage power cables and terminations, and low-voltage E&IC systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing methods such as insulation resistance, meggering, and continuity testing.
  • Proficient in Instrument Calibrations
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, and OSHA.
  • A working knowledge of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA/IBC codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work
  • Specific knowledge of NFPA/NEC area classifications and required materials.
  • Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice and regulations/legislation relating to electrical and instrumentation work
  • Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package & Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Certifications such as NACE, API, AWS, or equivalent QC-related certifications are preferred.
  • Preferred certified electrician or Master Electrician.

  • Must be willing to work in a field environment, including potential 90% travel to one or various project sites.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
