Our client, an environmental services organization, is looking to add a Fleet Manager to their team. As the Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for creating a culture of a “safety-first” mindset by managing all company fleet safety and compliance initiatives. You will work closely with the leadership and management teams to ensure all employees, both field and non-field, are educated on and adhering to the company’s strict safety policies and protocol. You will have oversight of the fleet ensuring all vehicles are operating in top operating condition and that all DOT regulations are followed and in compliance.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain and update vehicle & equipment inventory
  • Manage vehicle GPS software
  • Maintain vehicle inspections & registration
  • Manage vehicle violations
  • Serves as a resource to management; acts as a liaison with external regulatory agencies, fleet vendors, fleet maintenance vendors, and fleet-related organizations
  • Manage transportation of vehicles to and from shops
  • Establish vendors for repairs, parts, maintenance and shop supplies
  • Plan, facilitate and direct fleet maintenance and repairs through area resources and vendors
  • Utilize and monitor telematics system for vehicle performance and repairs
  • Maintain and utilize the fleet data program to facilitate work-orders and critical asset data
  • Respond to truck-down situations
  • Maintain inventory of vehicles, equipment and tooling
  • Manage fleet compliance – DOT, ANSI, licensing, registration, inspections


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of applicable OSHA and DOT federal regulations, including FMCSA and PMSHA, state and local safety regulations, policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety best practices
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment and root cause analysis and methodologies
  • Solid knowledge of fleet, maintenance and repairs, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to work with and communicate with all regulatory agencies, customers and vendors
  • Strong ability to communicate, educate, and motivate all levels of employees, including rollout and training of new safety and fleet policies and procedures
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must be able to travel out of town based on project and location needs – how much travel?
  • Must be fully proficient MS Office Suite and cloud-based tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, i.e., Safety Manager or comparable role in underground construction, utilities and/or pipeline industry
  • Minimum of 2 years of fleet management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related-field, preferred but not required
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP)


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness and ability to work around biohazards such as bloodborne pathogens and sewage
  • Must be able to access all areas at a job site which could include heights, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Must be able to tolerate working conditions that come with working in the industry such as strong adverse odors, dirt, mud, etc.
  • Must be able to wear all required PPE (boots, hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, ear protection, mask) while on job sites
  • Must be able to perform regular duties such as walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • All tasks must be able to be successfully completed with or without accommodations


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position requires working both in an office environment and at outdoor job sites on a regular basis, traveling as needed via air and car
  • Must be able to tolerate working outside in all weather conditions when on job sites
