Position Overview


As the Principal Buyer, Indirect Procurement, you will:


  • Collaborate with the Director of Procurement to develop and execute procurement strategies.
  • Partner with various business functions to optimize indirect spend categories.
  • Negotiate long-term and blanket contracts with suppliers.
  • Conduct vendor research and evaluate total cost and quality of products/services.
  • Source and develop supplier relationships.
  • Create strategic sourcing plans to support business profitability.
  • Analyze spend data to improve services, reduce costs, and streamline procedures.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives and implement creative solutions.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for high-spend, complex categories.
  • Oversee routine purchasing activities and provide direction to teams.
  • Identify company-wide spend opportunities and develop implementation plans.
  • Conduct thorough spend analysis and track progress with metrics tools.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to gather category requirements.
  • Manage purchase orders, review invoices, and resolve supplier issues.
  • Develop and report departmental KPIs for executive review.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements


  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong logical, prioritizing, procurement, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Proven success in pricing and trading terms negotiation.
  • Broad supplier benchmarking and cost analysis knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and a strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, databases, ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred), and Microsoft Office.
  • CPM/CPSM Certification preferred.
