Application Engineer

The Enterprise BI & Analytics team is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to provide technical support for IBM Cognos & IBM TM1 Business Intelligence (BI) applications. This role will involve working closely with both business partners and technology teams to analyze and resolve complex production issues. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication skills. As part of the role, you will be responsible for root cause analysis, process automation, and ensuring high-quality support for enterprise BI applications.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt resolution of complex production issues independently or by collaborating with other teams.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis, devising, testing, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Infrastructure, ETL, Data, etc.) to meet project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose solutions to improve efficiency or prevent future occurrences.
  • Explore opportunities for process automation and support their implementation.
  • Document technical procedures for handover to Level 1 and Level 2 Application Support teams.
  • Support the Enterprise BI & Analytics team in various activities such as development, testing, and project execution.
  • Actively participate in the improvement of the BI application environment.


Requirements:

  • Proficiency in IBM Cognos Analytics (Framework Manager, Transformer, Data Modeling, Reports, Dashboards).
  • Strong expertise in IBM TM1 (Planning Analytics).
  • Solid understanding of SQL (Oracle or equivalent).
  • Experience with other BI tools such as PowerBI is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with job scheduling tools like BMC Control-M.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., DOS/batch, PowerShell).
  • Proven experience in Incident Management, ticket workflows, and escalation processes (ServiceNow preferred).
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and tools (Azure or equivalent).




Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supporting BI applications, especially IBM Cognos and TM1.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in database management and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and issue resolution in complex environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and projects independently.
