Involuntary Treatment Manager
We’re not just behavioral health people—we’re crisis people.
Connections has built a model that combines medical and recovery-oriented treatment that gets people connected to community-based resources and back to their lives faster. Our aim is for solutions, not just stop-gaps. Real support, not restriction. We have proven that our model improves access, creates hope and makes the behavioral health crisis system work better, and we’re finding better ways to do it every day.
Our story
Originally founded by two emergency room psychiatrists, Dr. Chris Carson and Dr. Robert Williamson, Connections Health Solutions brings 30 years of experience serving individuals in crisis and operates two of the nation’s largest and most studied crisis response centers and is currently expanding to more states. Since opening our doors we have provided care and treatment for hundreds of thousands of individuals in crisis.
What You'll Do:
The Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) Manager serves as the central point of accountability for the ITA process at the facility, ensuring seamless coordination and compliance with legal requirements. This role involves tracking patients with requested ITAs, timely filing of court documents, and prioritizing patient transfers to evaluating hospitals. The ITA Manager collaborates closely with psychiatrists to submit evaluations to the court, schedule court appearances, and work with Clinical Operations staff to provide necessary documentation and reports to the County. Additionally, the ITA Manager is responsible for witness screening and issuing subpoenas in collaboration with the Clerk of Court. Given the legal nature of these proceedings, the ITA Manager must make decisions that align with legal statutes, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients and serving the best interests of Connections Health Solutions.
- Oversees all ITA operations for the Program and acts as the subject matter except for all involuntary petitions and ITA activities in conjunction with the Operations Team
- Is responsible for all reporting related to Key Performance Indicators and required to monitor data trends. Negative data trends will require the use of root cause analyses and solution-focused changes to address ITA programming changes.
- Tracks the status of patients for whom Evaluation and Treatment has been requested.
- Works with Social Services staff to ensure proper completion of the ITA process and necessary documents.
- Will be the primary point of contact between the medical staff (MD, PNP, PA) and the legal court system (Judges, Attorneys) to address any barriers related to the ITA process.
- Works with psychiatrists to ensure proper completion of their evaluations and legal filings.
- Ensures court documents are filed on time and in accordance with the Clerk of Court standards.
- Prepares witness statements and issues subpoenas on behalf of the Clerk of Court
- Works with the Clinical Operations staff to ensure required documentation and reports are provided to the County. This will require daily, weekly, and monthly reports and legal filing of court documents based on legal filling times and dates.
- Works with Clinical Operations staff to prioritize patients for admission to an evaluating hospital and address barriers to timely patient flow.
- Attends and schedules staff attendance at court hearings, essentially acting as the Clerk of Court on behalf of Connections Health Solutions.
- Maintain court appearance integrity and Court standards and ensure the court proceedings meet the specified standards of King County.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for outside agencies regarding ITA and in conjunction with Operations and Learning and Development, develops and provides internal and external training related to ITA.
- Assists in the development and reporting of contract deliverables and KPIs to appropriate entities including the MCOs, the County Clerk of Court, and internal Operations.
- Although several job duties will be governed by the Clerk of Court time requirements, some aspects of the job may require additional work outside of the normal business day to meet the 24/7 requirements of the ITA program.
What You'll Bring:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW), Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation, or related field
- 5 years health care and client care coordination responsibilities
- Notary License Required
- Demonstrated proficiency: Microsoft Office Software, Electronic Health Records, Health Information Exchange Systems
It would be great if you had:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Legal Studies, or Nursing
