The Opportunity:

YSE Beauty is seeking an experienced Director of Operations & Supply Chain to support our rapidly growing brand. This person will be responsible for onboarding, managing, and developing the company’s contract manufacturing relationships, as well as helping to identify new manufacturers/suppliers in collaboration with our Product Development team. Our ideal candidate will utilize their strong strategic acumen to ensure that supplier relationships and outcomes are maximally beneficial to the company's short-term and long-term objectives. From negotiating contract terms and pricing agreements to managing production schedules, inventory deliveries, tech transfer requirements and more, this person will serve a critical function to ensure that everything is tracking to the company’s launch timelines and goals.


The Director of Operations & Supply Chain will build strong relationships with external suppliers as well as serve as a liaison between our product development, finance/inventory planning, and executive leadership teams. Our ideal candidate is extremely process-focused, detail oriented, strategic and analytical. Experience in working in a manufacturing environment is a plus. This position will report to our President.


What you'll do:


  • Onboard, manage, and develop all contract manufacturing and supplier relationships
  • Develop a sourcing strategy for new relationships in collaboration with our Product Development team
  • Validate supplier capacities, identify potential risks and recommend risk mitigation plans
  • Effectively negotiate contracts, long-term purchasing agreements, and COGS
  • Identify areas to continuously improve scalability, quality, costs and speed-to-market
  • Develop and propose metrics to analyze supplier total cost
  • Collaborate with inventory planner to ensure that demand is met (both on a DTC and retail side)
  • Help schedule and coordinate deliveries with receiving locations
  • In conjunction with our regulatory/QC consultant team, develop and implement a quality management program with contract manufacturers
  • Manage phase-in and phase-outs, such as artwork or formulation changes
  • Build deep, strategic relationships with internal and fractional/outside partners including: Product
  • Development, Finance, Accounting, Inventory Planning, Regulatory/Quality, and Fulfillment
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews to improve existing relationships
  • Create, own, and manage operations and supply chain strategy
  • Present on KPIs and forward-facing strategy at quarterly board meetings


What we're looking for:

  • 8-10 years experience in ops/supply chain, with 6+ years experience of owning supplier relationships
  • Deep experience in supply chain, including sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, supplier management, cost management, quality management (inventory planning experience a plus)
  • Demonstrated strategic acumen and problem-solving ability, as well as demonstrated experience managing and maximizing the effectiveness of short-term and long-term supply chain objectives
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience working with a beauty CPG company required; experience with omni-channel (including retail and DTC) a plus
  • Experience working with integration, supplier master data, BOMs, validity dates, MRP through industry prominent ERP systems such as Netsuite
  • Experience leveraging business acumen, data and effective communication skills to successfully deliver strategic plans
  • Experience setting, tracking and reporting on key business/departmental KPIs with an eye toward constantly uncovering efficiencies, streamlining systems and processes, and creating scalable operations
  • Adept at developing negotiation strategies, outlining parameters and achieving objectives
  • Demonstrated propensity to routinely incorporate quality-related data into the decision-making process for qualifying contact manufacturers
  • Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners, including both internal and external teams/resources
  • Ability to toggle between high-level strategy and detailed, day-to-day tactical execution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite, including Google Sheets
  • Superior organizational, problem solving and time management skills
  • Superior listening, written and oral communication skills
  • A strong work ethic; a flexible, can-do attitude; and the ability to embrace constructive feedback and iterate accordingly
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (ideally in supply chain, economics or a related field)
  • Open to travel up to 20% annually
