Electrician Position Summary:


Norfolk Crush is a facility that processes 110k bushels of soybeans daily into soybean oil, soybean meal, and soy hull pellets. The lead electrician is responsible for making electrical repairs, troubleshooting, and installations as directed by the maintenance leadership team. The lead electrician does not have direct reports but will coordinate with an automation technician and a second electrician to complete jobs as directed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Day-to-day completion of electrical work orders assigned by the maintenance leadership team.

Manage electrical drawings and coordinate any updates as required with outside engineering services.

Instrumentation troubleshooting and repairs.

Active participation in continuous improvement of the plant.

Communicate to plant leadership any electrical issues.

Work closely with maintenance leadership to keep our electrical systems maintained.

Adhere to plant operational policies and procedures and leads plant safety initiatives and instills safety-based behaviors in constant pursuit of zero lost-time and incidents. Ensures adherence to all legal and regulatory aspects of the operation: OSHA, EPA, Department of Ag, etc.

Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline desired.

1+ years’ manufacturing experience in feed/food/chemical processing plant knowledge preferred.

Ability to be available for on-call for a maximum of every other week. Will work during annual shutdown week.

Must have effective oral and written communication across different levels and departments.

Desire and ability to contribute to a team environment across departments and shifts.

Strong knowledge of quality specifications using identification and data gathering skills

Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to help the maintenance department when needed.

Must have good computer skills.

Willingness to do more than the job description to support the plant’s needs.

Business Acumen:

Technical Knowledge and Skills – Experience with bioprocessing or related industrial production (crushing, refinery, roasting production, etc.); experience with large scale production equipment, automation, troubleshooting, repairs, and oversite of key vendors; combined technical and process (chemistry, bioprocess) understanding important to have success in this position.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:


Ability to frequently bend, squat, climb, sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements and push/pull.

Ability to occasionally kneel.

Ability to frequently carry/lift light to heavy loads of up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work 12hr work days 7am to 7pm. Schedule is on Tues/Wed, off Thurs/Fri, on Sat/Sun/Mon, off Tues/Wed, on Thurs/Fri, off Sat/Sun/Mon.
