Overview
LEEDARSON is a humble global leader in product manufacturing, with a newer focus on product development and innovative product design. You likely have never seen a LEEDARSON branded product, but chances are you already have one or more LEEDARSON products in your home today, with millions of LEEDARSON designed lighting and IoT products sold under a variety of private label brand names, available internationally in-store and online.
We are looking for an Industrial Designer to join our local Product Development Center team, focusing on new product innovations and product development for our highest-priority customer projects. This cross-functional team includes designers, product managers, project managers, engineers, and maybe you too
The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of form, function, and materials, combined with the ability to bring unique and marketable designs to life. This role will involve concept development, prototyping, and collaboration with product managers, engineering and R&D teams to ensure product designs are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with market trends.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop innovative concepts for residential and commercial lighting, fixtures, ceiling fans, smart IoT products, etc. that balance aesthetic, functionality, and user needs.
- Support customer proposals with inspiring visuals (renderings, animations, video).
- Create product sales content, for online product pages, packaging artwork, and in-store signage.
- Research trends in design, materials, and technology to ensure products meet market demands and stand out in a competitive landscape.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate designs into production-ready specifications, align designs with brand identity and target audience preferences.
- Grow. What do you want to learn? What do you think could be better? We are looking for a team member with a shared drive to learn and continue developing, encouraging growth in ourselves, our work, and the company. Let’s grow together.
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, or equivalent field.
- 2+ years of product design work experience. Preferably in lighting, ceiling fan.
- Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro).
- Experienced with 3D CAD modeling software (we use Autodesk Fusion).
- Strong rendering and visualization skills.
- Strong understanding of form, proportions and ergonomics.
- Knowledge of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Travel
5-10%. Most of the work will be done locally, but we do travel occasionally. We are a global company with customers and offices around the world, and manufacturing in China and Thailand. We encourage our employees to spend time with their international colleagues in other parts of the world, and to travel for personal development, whether it’s a design trade show or store-walk in another part of the country. Keeping up to date with the world outside of the office is important to us.
Benefits
- Health Insurance
- 401K
- 11 days paid time off
- Closed for major US holidays
- Hybrid work eligible (after initial 90 day probationary period)
Summary
We at LEEDARSON are excited to find a new team member to help grow our expanding lighting, fixture, home appliance and IoT smart product business, and a designer with the drive to grow themselves and continue refining their craft, with support from our great local and international team.
