A reputable Real Estate Investment and Property Management Company is looking to bring onboard an In-House Counsel specializing in unlawful detainer litigation to play a crucial role in managing and resolving eviction-related legal matters. The hire will work closely with the firm's property management team, external counsel, and other departments to navigate complex legal challenges and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigation Management: Oversee and manage unlawful detainer lawsuits from inception to resolution, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and representing the company in court proceedings.
  • Legal Counsel: Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance on matters related to tenant disputes, eviction processes, and property management issues.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks in all aspects of unlawful detainer actions.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures related to landlord-tenant relations and eviction processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with property management teams, external legal counsel, and other departments to ensure effective legal strategies and solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all unlawful detainer actions comply with federal, state, and local laws, including keeping up-to-date with legal changes and best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of CA and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on unlawful detainer, eviction processes, and real estate law.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. A passion for real estate law and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal solutions.
