Senior Accountant, NY

Farmington New York

Pay Range: $60k - $80k yearly.


We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our passionate and creative team in Farmington, New York. This dynamic role in our accounting office reports directly to the Controller and is primarily responsible for flexibly supporting both corporate accounting and also the direct accounting needs of our in-house timber framing, construction, design, manufacturing, and fine woodworking divisions.   


The ideal candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a dedicated and supportive team, communicating easily with all coworkers while taking lead on assigned projects.


Required Experience:


·     5 years’ experience in corporate accounting or business administration.

·     Very familiar with MS office products – strong Excel skills.

·     Critical thinking and strong attention to detail.

·     Knowledge of GAAP and its application; ability to support corporate accounting processes.

·     Previous experience and expertise with Acumatica or other ERP software.

·     Ability to work with coworkers at all levels and across multiple companies in various states/locations.


Preferred Experience:


·     Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.

·     Experience with socially and environmentally conscious business models.


Required Education: 2-yr degree in Accounting or Business Administration (4 year degree preferred)

The base salary range for this position is $60k - $80k yearly.


Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

Reports To: Controller – Finance

 

Overview –


This role, reporting to the Controller, will be a partner in building and developing the accounting functions at the company. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the company monthly reporting package and related reconciliations, as well as the management and support of key areas of the business including our credit card platform. The Senior Accountant will have experience preparing reconciliations and will help drive improvements in accounting systems and processes. 


Core Competencies:


·     Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

·     5+ years of progressive experience handling financial reporting & analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, asset / inventory management, and financial systems maintenance.

·     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·     Ability to work closely with employees at all levels in the organization.

·     Familiar with MS office products – advanced Excel user.

·     Attention to detail and follow through with time sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment.

·     Previous experience and expertise with ERP software, Acumatica preferred.

·     Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment, preferred.


Responsibilities:


Oversee and prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations.

 

·     Assist with the preparation of a timely and accurate monthly financial package.

·     Prepare multi company balance sheet and income statement for reporting.

·     Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.

·     Assist with refining current month end close procedures across functions to a timely accounting close.


Manage and support credit card platforms, reconciliations, and overall programs.

 

·     Support annual review with outside accounting firm.

·     Oversee inventory management.


Support preparation of annual budget and forecasting needs.

 

·     Collaborate with operations to enhance results, optimize system setups, and assist with other projects as requested.

·     Implement department process improvements.

·     Other tasks as directed by the Controller.
