Job Description:

This role includes activities such as maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of optical network infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve network issues promptly, optimize network performance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of optical network systems

Responsibilities:

  • Support services team is the first line to address Optical Transport (SDH, DWDM, OTN) incidents and service requests
  • Manage the Incident process E2E till its closure, monitor the health of the platform.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of fiber optic links and optical network elements to identify and resolve network issues efficiently
  • Integrate with operations group, tools and processes
  • Assist troubleshooting effort post fiber events/activities, includes maintenance windows
  • Document network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes to maintain accurate records and facilitate knowledge sharing
  • Follow existing MOPs, and Ensures best practices and procedures are followed
  • Adhere to the Telco Incident management process and procedures
  • Create incidents in ticketing system with accurate information
  • Create child tickets for countries as per Telco guidelines
  • Determine the number of affected customers and service impact and ensure correct ticket prioritization
  • Collect and log accurate information about the incidents
  • Follow ITIL best practices
  • Initial Incident Analysis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications) or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment, preferably with a focus on optical networking..
  • Basic knowledge of optical networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including DWDM, and fiber optics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in NoC Support for Ciena, Infinera & Cisco SDH, DWDM, OTN Platforms
  • Linux OS basic skills including ssh, telnet, ftp skills
  • Ability to understand, install, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues
  • Ability to support and follow standard processes, resolving with the SLA, documentation of NOC Operations Process
