Outside Sales Representative

The company distributes and supplies metal products including aluminum, stainless steel, carbon, related alloys, and engineering grade plastics. Some products include plate, sheet, and extensive offerings of long products for general engineering, aerospace, and commercial markets. Our range of precision cutting equipment includes waterjet, band saws, disc plate saws, and shears.
Branches are located strategically in New York, Philadelphia, Connecticut, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and California with transfer stations located throughout the East, Midwest and West allowing a nationwide presence and coverage with next day delivery capability.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships, confidence, and trust with contacts at all levels within customer organizations.
- Develop new prospects and interact with existing customers to increase sales.
- Work closely with inside sales and purchasing to ensure quotes, material, and deliveries meet customer needs.
- Keep customers informed about industry and economic trends and company's ability to assist in all changes.
- Increases revenue from assigned customers by increasing product lines or items sold.
Requirements:
- Outside Sales experience in a metals service center or similar industry preferred.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving/conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of aluminum, stainless steel, or industrial supply distribution.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends to identify opportunities for company growth.
- Highly developed organizational and communication skills.
- High level of self-motivation and awareness.
- Ability to handle objections and provide alternatives in the sales process.
- Valid and clean driver’s license.
